I love toadstools!

Meet my latest pincushion, it has pretty little toadstools all over it - from the japanese fabric to the cute little button - and polka dots!!!
Did I say that of the things I really love, toadstools and polka dots are way up there! It's just a win win for me. I made this one to sell on http://www.etsy.com, but I'm definitely making one for me too!
Happy Wednesday!

Creative Tuesday!

Let's make today 'Creative Tuesday' as I started not one, but two new projects!
Not only that, but I finished them, loved them, photographed them and posted them on Etsy!
Round of applause please, it's been a good day.
Alright, back to earth now - it's time to feed the family!
Happy, happy Tuesday!

From real flowers to felt flowers!

Welcome to my latest creative adventure - flower pins!

I'm so pleased how they came out - they look so cute pinned to a bag.I used some of my felt and fabric stash - Ms Frugality will be so proud of me - although all good things lead to shopping. Right?

Hope my fellow etsyians like them too - I'm going for that elusive first sale - cross your fingers!

Well, pretty soon the school bus will be calling, so I'll sign off for now.

Happy Tuesday!

I love Spring!

I had to share these pictures from my garden with you - I love the season of Spring and here's the proof that it's alive and kicking in the Northeast!
I'm going to be drawing on these images and more from the garden, as my inspiration for my next projects - so stay tuned!
All the best to everyone, hope you're all enjoying this time as much as I - the weather is absolutely beautiful here today. Garden on!

A new bag!

Happy Monday!
Say hello to my new favorite bag / creation, that I finished just moments ago.
I actually started it many moons ago as my first project in a new knitting group, and finished it today with handles and the applique design which seems to be becoming my thing!
Happily the group remains a constant, and very good friendships have been made. It remains to be a source of inspiration and with such wonderful women, also a source of soul nurturing.
It is steered by a great teacher, who keeps us on the straight and narrow of knitting, and brings great ideas for future projects. You know who you are - kudos to you and as my kids would say "you're the best".
Ladies, I think it must be time for a coffee house knitogether! Fancy a chai?
Well, on to ravelry for a while and then the school bus will beckon - knit on!

bowls, bowls, beautiful bowls!

Yes it's true - I'm addicted to making bowls. They're getting better and better though, I think? I love the red bowl - great yarn, 'lambs pride' in 'cranberry swirl' came out really well.
Happy Friday!

Seamstress to the webkinz!

So, here is the latest outfit as requested - a princess with wings, of course!
It's actually quite fun to make these little costumes, and only uses a little of my precious felt, 100% wool no less.
I'll keep you posted as to what other creations come along - I've had a request for a lizard hat for a chicken! I'm not sure I can deliver on that one though!

Ahhh, mateys! # 2

So today while watching 'Juno' (- which was great, by the way. I know, I know, everybody else saw it ages ago, but when when you have kids you're not on the movie theater schedule, rather the dvd one! Just!) I was making lots of pirate stuff, the bowl, and also a mini pirate hat and eye patch, so my son's webkinz can dress up just like him!

It turned out so cute, that I had to share it with you.

My daughter has already ordered a princess hat for hers, so other cuddly friends may be making appearances here soon, too!

Ahh, mateys!

Happy Tuesday!

So here's another bowl - do you see an obsession forming?

But it's a pirate bowl, I love anything with pirates at the moment. Maybe, we've been watching too much Peter Pan around here lately! To continue the theme I have just bought a couple of prints from another cool Etsyian - http://elsiecake.etsy.com. She's got some great neverland stuff at the moment, check it out!

Here comes the school bus, see you soon!

I love this bag!

Oh my, I love how this bag turned out! I almost don't want to sell it - it's on Etsy - but if I do, then I can justify making something else, right?

I love purple coneflowers - aka echinacea - so it seemed the perfect accent to this great 'chianti' color. And, of course, I had to add the ribbon with a vintage button!

I'm trying to finish some of the ufo's (un-finished objects) I have in the closet, they include a felted tote bag, a baby quilt, a preschool scrapbook, etc, etc, etc.....

My newest obsession will be a little girl's dress with knitted bodice and fabric skirt - inspired by the 'summerlin' dress from http://kathrynivy.com, and also a knitted something for my little boy. It's so much easier to find cuter projects for girls, but I'll find something.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy little handmade friends!

I have to make more of these little gnomes - I love them to pieces!
They just need some toadstools to make them complete, maybe I can knit them - check out this website - kathrynivy.com, she's got some awesome free patterns of mushrooms and toadstools. You'll love them!

Happy Friday!

So here is my latest project - a pretty red poncho. It was a project to practice increases and was actually quite easy to knit - as long as each row was written down, to be crossed off on completion, otherwise it could have gone horribly wrong. ( thanks for the tip, Kirsten )

It still needs blocking, to help stop the roll, and then possibly a crocheted edge to finish it. This is easier said than done, since I have no idea how to crochet, at all, but I guess I have until the fall to figure it out! My daughter won't be able to wear until then anyway.

Next, I have to find a similar project for something for my son to wear - maybe a simple sweater vest? I'll keep you posted.
